Elven Court Wizard Robe

Finally it is finished! Over a week ago I started this robe. After 52hours of work it is finally finished.
This is a grey blue robe that took 12 yards of fabric. I decided it need something. So I went to Urban Threads and used there Elven Court embroidery pack, after an hour  of sizing and seeing which ones would work I ended up with the Antler set.

I first outlined the designs by sewing machine, that took 2 hours. Just a fine zig zag stich. Then I sat down and stitched keeping a log. Took me nearly 8 days and 40 hours! 10 hours to sew it all up, the moment of truth to see if my first embroidery project was lined up perfectly, and it was! OMG I was so relived! I stressed if by some chance I didn't get it right. The other tests was washing, drying and iron, it passed with flying colors!

Now I did extra work on the seams since I do not own a serger I finished the seams. I pressed them open then folded the edge to meet the sewn seam and then top stitched then open. This baby isn't going to fray up at all!

With all my costs and what I charge as an hourly rate ($8.00) the whole thing is worth $455.00 Imagine if I had an embroidery machine, I could drop that down to at least $200.00. So this robe is now sitting on my website waiting for its new home.

I hope you enjoy it!

We have been pre-approved for a machine! They want $600 for the down payment so we lowered the go fund me goal on the machine. The amazing thing about this machine is that it has a light pen pad system that will allow us to create our own designs! Or even trace a customers original work for there order! Thank you all for your support in this, we also like to mention we will be able to monogram as well!

Winter Solstice Viking Hood

I have been very busy working on a Viking Style Hood, it is based off the reconstruction designs of actual hoods that were work by Norse and Vikings.  I actually making two hoods but the one I did traditionally is only fitting children's heads, which will have stars and hearts of bright colors. I decided to make it for my daughter but will get pics of it soon! The other one I improvised on fits small-medium woman's heads. Which it fits my head and face snugly. Which is the way they were supposed to be a snug fit. Its a work in progress design.

I am making felt Holly leaves and berries appliques to go onto one of the hoods. The hoods are made of Red Fleece and will have green satin lining.

All the following pictures are of the Winter solstice hood I am working on.

I will also be adding 2 embroidery motifs on the front and back diamond inserts one of a celtic snowflake and the other of a winter solstice sceane. All around the hood will be little embroidery snow flakes and swirls. I am making it up as I go.
More updates as they happen ~Willow~

Update December 19th
Finished all the holly leaves and berries attached onto the hood, Now the hand embroidery begins!

Update 1-7-2013
Celtic snowflake embroidered onto white felt that will be appliqued onto the hood. All hand stitched. Embroidery design is from Urban Threads.

Update January 18th: Finally Finished, I didnt add the green satin lining it wasnt matching up so instead of swearing and cursing I just didnt add it. Oaky I admit is i did swear some.
From start to finish on time sheet took close to 88hours roughly 2 weeks. I dont think I will be doing much hand embroidery as I am slow at it.

Ordination Sash

I have been working on a Ordination Sash for our Co-Owner Magus Ed.
I am using Black satin and muslin as the interfacing.

The patches is from our supplier, I would have made our own but alas I do not owen an embroidery machine yet. One day I will but for now these patches will do. I am hand embroidering two different designs at the bottom the side with the Gold trim is a silver Triquetra, on the Silver side will be a gold Triscale.
I am embroidering from the reverse side as transferring a design onto black is difficult with traditional methods.  It should be a great pice once its finished and Custom Options will be available on our website in the future.

Keep this post booked marked Updates will be posted as I go along. Before I forget I got our Embroidery designs from Urban Threads.

*UPDATE on April 25, 2011*

On Sunday evening I had finished the embroidery work, which means I am on schedule for once. I predict it will be finished by Tuesday. Enjoy the update pics of my progress :)
