So I have been playing with an idea, I been crocheting a scarf in my down times and as I am an idea hits me. Why not add embroidery patches to the end of the scarf. So here are a few just sitting on top of one of the ends of the scarf.

Recipe: Skyrim Honey Nut Treats

We love playing games when we have the time to, most of our work is inspired by Games as well as Pagan Cultures. I spent a few hours the other day trying to find a good recipe based of the Skyrim game for Honey Nut Treats. To my sad results I didn't find anything remotely close. Many used marshmallows or strictly rice crispy.
I decided to start from scratch. I wanted  something that would be made from the colder climates. So I used one of my Granola recipes with added twists. We had fun making them as much as devouring them. These are highly adaptive to add or subtract ingredients.
Tip: Mixture is really loose let sit for an hour in room temp or 30 minutes in fridge before forming into balls. We used grape seed oil on our hands to avoid the sticky mixture staying on our hands. You can use an cookie scoop for more uniform sizes. We used our hands and the kids loved getting in there to make them.
What you Need:
  • Big mixing bowl
  • Sauce Pan
  • Measuring Cups
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Apple skewers or bamboo skewers
Ingredients:
  1. 1/4 cup Butter
  2. 1/4 cup Honey
  3. 1/3 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  4. 2 cups Quick Oats
  5. 1 Cup Rice Crispy Cereal
  6. 1 cup chopped toasted nuts( I put my coffee grinder on Coarse setting and grind ours)
  7. 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  8. 3 Tablespoons Cinnamon
In a large bowl add Oats, Cereal, Nuts and cinnamon.
Melt butter, Honey Brown sugar in sauce pan on med high heat until it starts to bubble, turn heat down cook for 2 min.
Take off heat mix in vanilla.
Pour over mix in bowl, stir until coated. Chill for 30 minutes in fridge.
Line pans with parchment or wax paper.
Coat hands with oil, form mix into balls.
Place pans in fridge and let them set up for an hour.
Use apple skewers or bamboo skewers and place 3 balls onto each stick.
Depending on size of treats will determine how many sticks you get. We got 6 treat sticks ours were quite big.
Once on the sticks let sit in a cool place. Once room temp, they might stay hard  some of ours came apart if this happens re form and place in fridge. We wrapped ours in plastic wrap.

Enjoy!

Prop Building

Over the last 3 weeks I have been busy with building 2 bottle props.
Let me say this, the method I used was long and tedious and I probably wont use it for something like this ever again!

This process I started out with two computer images of the Bottles I made.
Bottle 1 is a Red Bottle from the Game of Elder Scroll: Skyrim
The red bottles are used for the lesser health potions and for fortified health. The strange octagon shape was not easy to do in this method I was using.
The Second Bottle is a Summon Creature Potion from the Fable Games.

Using the images I began making my cardboard templets.
I put them together with Painters Masking Tape.
I then used up the last of my Expand Foam filler the stuff you find in the fix it up section. Its used to fill holes and such.

After it set after 6 hours I began carving it away to a shape I wanted.

I then covered the foam with painters masking tape.

With a brown paper bag and wall paper glue I covered the masking tape. Over lapping the pices. I had mine cut into 1 inch by 1 inch square pieces.

After allowing them to dry for 2 days in the sun outside, I then took my paper clay or as some call it paper mache, and mixed it with the wallpaper glue not water. I then smeared it on, I didn't like it not one pit. Wasn't smooth, wasn't easy to put on at all! After allowing the bottles to dry for a week in the sun. I should have mixed up more and filled in the holes and gaps but I really didn't want to, I just wanted them finished so instead  I took my hot glue gun and went to town on them.

My Daughter helped me paint them, these are not for sale nor would I offer them in our shop. They are not perfect but great for the kids to play with.

Enjoy!
